Saturday morning. I wake up a bit late, as usual, and I start making some breakfast. Eggs frying and coffee pot lit, I hear the distinct sound of my door being pounded to oblivion. The main problem of not having a doorbell.
I shout out so they stop knocking, and I walk towards the door. But wait, said my still processing and half sleep. It's COVID time, I'm not expecting anyone over. I ask from behind my door who is it, and to my surprise, it was an Amazon package I expected days from that day. Happiness swells through my body and I quickly open the door to accept my order.
That was how I started yesterday, and the prologue to a chapter titled "Todd reads his new book and forgets everything else". And yes, the eggs were a bit burned.
So, I began my reading and I couldn't stop. I didn't want to stop. A combination of years of expectations and the usual sentiment of "I don't need sleep, I need answers" fueled my reading session until I was in the last page, and a new hole grew in my soul until the next sequel. Business as usual.
Afterwards, I took my time to process everything that happened and promptly pounced on my phone, wanting to know after weeks of careful spoiler's evasion, what did the community think. I read through all the comments, the general opinion was that the book seemed incomplete and there were a lot of expectations for the next one, but I digress. The comment that caught my attention, with the subtlety of a herd of hungry cats, came from a observation of the significance of our main character arming themselves and a recently revealed conflict:
The Lance of Longinus was associated with the spear of Lugh.
And that's how this series of mythical spears began. Literally yesterday. I'm not good in social media, so I refrained from asking clarification on the comment. This means I'll have to research some more on everything. Such is life.
If I have your interest, I hope to see you tomorrow.
